The interpretive framework

1. Salvation is grace.Ephesians 2:8–9 rules out the idea that perseverance means earning heaven. God initiates, empowers, preserves, forgives, and supplies every grace needed to finish the race.
2. Assurance is real.John 10, Romans 8, 1 Peter 1, and Jude give Christians strong reasons for confidence. No external power can overpower Christ or defeat God’s saving will.
3. Perseverance is also real.John 15, Romans 11, Galatians 5, Hebrews, Peter, and Revelation contain warnings that cease to function normally if apostasy and falling from grace are impossible.
Scripture excerpts are from the Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition (RSV-CE) and are intentionally brief; use the linked passage for the full context. The exercise distinguishes Christian assurance from absolute presumption. It does not teach that salvation is earned by works or that Christians should live in constant fear of losing grace accidentally.
