Faith & Life Grade 7 · Chapter 25 · God's Mercy and Forgiveness
Perfect or Imperfect Contrition?
Contrition is sorrow for sin with the resolve not to sin again. Perfect contrition comes from love of God. Imperfect contrition (attrition) comes from fear of punishment or the ugliness of sin. Both are enough for Confession; perfect contrition is better (CCC 1451-1453).
