The opening scenes establish places and conditions. Later scenes fill them with living things. The seventh day turns our attention to rest.

Body and spiritual soul
Genesis 1 speaks of human beings made in God’s image. Genesis 2 portrays a human formed from the ground and given life by God. Open each card, then consider the whole person.

We live in the material world through our bodies. Bodily life is good and belongs to who we are.
The spiritual soul
The rational, spiritual soul gives us powers such as understanding and free choice, opening us to know and love God.
Body and spiritual soul belong together in a human being. Neither card alone describes the entire person.
