The Attribute Test
Chapter 1 asks what makes God God. Consider short descriptions of a proposed deity and choose the best analysis using the divine attributes from the book.
Reason from attributes
What would the claim imply?
Use the description given. Identify a conflict, or recognize when the information is too thin to decide.

Evaluate the case
Which analysis is strongest?
Choose an answer.
Use the attributes carefully
Attributes give us a way to test claims for consistency. A claim may conflict with eternality, immutability, perfection, infinity, or simplicity. But a partial description can also leave the decisive facts unknown.
Discuss: Why might “very powerful” be too vague to identify a deity? Which other attribute would you ask about next?
